Up Close

This lovely cyclist zipped by us so close and so quickly I could barely get her photo. It's a pity that shorts season is coming to an end, she's rocking them with those ballet flats.

There is a bike lane all along the river in Florence. It's a great way to zip across town, and a great place for watching chic cyclists!

Florence Cycle Chic

Of all the cyclists I saw in all of Italy, this man was far and away the most wonderful. There really isn't much to say, I think he's just perfect.

Red Purse

She's looking fetching in her neutrals with that vivid red purse.

Relaxed and Elegant

I just love how relaxed this lady looks in her white ensemble with the Electra's chaincase and skirt guard protecting her clothes and that cute Basil bag on her bike. Her ballerina flats are perfect for cycling these days.
Ultimately her one-handed posture says it all.

Red Shoes, Red Tail Lights

I loved the pop of her red shoes and lights in the simple green and black.
This photo was taken on MIT campus, the story I made up is that she's got some big presentation wrapped in plastic in her basket there.

Cool Guy

This guy looked cool and happy in rush hour as he rode to work on his vintage 3-speed. Boston transportation cycling at it's best!

Handsome 3 Speed

Every time I see this guy he is impeccably turned out. Look, even his shoes are recently shined.

Gentleman Cyclist

There is no doubt but that when this gentleman steps off his bike he no longer appears to be a cyclist. So here's proof! One can bicycle with no special clothes.
I love his cap.

Add a scarf

This lady knows - take a simple classic bike, add a simple classic outfit (LOVE those ballerina flats!) and then add a scarf. That's what I noticed first.

She's turned her head to say something to the cabbie, it seemed like a friendly chat.

Red bag and ballet flats

This lady had been enjoying Newbury St. and then hopped on her bike to head south. No big deal, no special clothes (though I do love her red bag).

Red All Over

I just love this lady's color consistency, and her posture. She is quite the chic cyclist! On a grey day like today she provided the perfect counterpoint.

Matching Bag and Bike

Blue, white, and a red accent - bag and bike. Even her Converse match!

Natural Elegance

She looked so elegant in the late spring evening light, I think it was the drape of her shawl and her headscarf. Her mode of transport, the clothes she has chosen, I expect this lady is quietly elegant in the rest of her life too.

Winter Light

First thing I noticed was the drape of her skirt against her dark leg, then the grey mittened hands she was trying to keep warm.

When I spoke with her she graciously let me take her picture and I can show you her cute shoes, purple tights, and the lightness of the skirt which somehow makes this cold weather less horrible.

This morning's temperature 27 degrees "Feels like 16 degrees", winds from WNW at 15 mph, gusting to 20 mph (-5 degrees C, winds 26 km/h).

Look Before Crossing

It's getting chilly for bare legs, she was moving briskly. I'm definitely enjoying the navy blue this season.

Autumn announces its arrival

There's a chill in the air. We're not sure whether to wear a sundress like usual or bust out the sweater and scarf. Me, I hold on to summer 'till I'm shivering.

Why do I oddly love this photo?

Because she's not extraordinary. She's not a super model, she's not young or old, she's not wearing anything astounding, her bike is not special... There is nothing remarkable, yet it ends up lovely. There is something about riding a bike that transcends the details.
