Just a glance

Parisienne on a bike in her black dressI am still working on what I want to say about out trip (and getting caught up in real life) so I'll just post this picture of a lovely Parisienne on her way somewhere on a summer evening, pausing to look in a window in the Marais.

Elegant Simplicity

mature lady on a bike at MIT
This lady looks so elegant on her summer evening out. I love the classical simplicity in all that she does - from the bike which must have a coaster brake (given the clean lines of her handlebars) to the single silver necklace for jewelry - she knows the power of a simple statement.

Autumn announces its arrival

Bicycle fashion Boston
There's a chill in the air. We're not sure whether to wear a sundress like usual or bust out the sweater and scarf. Me, I hold on to summer 'till I'm shivering.

White dress in the sun

Yesterday was a beautiful day for Bike Boston - lots of people were out. My noon meeting was canceled (due to perfect weather!) and even I got out for a joy ride. It was a perfect day.

Blue Strapless Dress

She was going so fast I mostly missed her. Still, that dress there is fighting gravity without the help of straps. Go blue dress girl!

A charming group effort

Boston cyclist 3-speed church
I chanced upon this lovely lady and told her about this blog, asking to take her photo. She already knew of the blog (how exciting!) because her friend had been featured on the blog twice already.

This lovely lady then went on to explain to me how she came by her bike. It, and basically everything on it, as well as the maintenance for it, have been gifts through the last few years. That dynohub of hers I was lusting over? That was last year's birthday present from a group of friends. The parts go on like that. She pointed out her light which attaches to the dynohub is modern, and doesn't go as well with the overall 'look' of the bike. I have been looking into these dynohubs, and it seems her friends are very wise, the modern light will save her many headaches and blown lightbulbs.

I just love that she has streamers.

Sweet and Sporty

sporty utility cyclist bike
The photo doesn't show it, but she has the prettiest pleating all around the collar of her dress. I love the dichotomy of how her handbag does, very correctly, match her shoes, but she's such a sport. She explained to me that she has had two road bikes stolen from her, so now she's got to ride her mountain bike. This worries her because she competes with the mountain bike - it CAN'T get stolen! I've got my fingers crossed for her.
