Summer of Mongolia

Summer in Mongolia can last from June through August, with temperatures climbing above 32°C (90°F). across much of the country. At the capital of Ulaanbaatar, July's average high temperature is 20°C (68°F). While that doesn't sound too uncomfortable, this high altitude landscape can be amazingly cool during July, with Ulaanbaatar averaging only 11°C (53°F) for overnight lows. This occurs in part because of the high altitude, the fact that humidity is very low and, with so little precipitation, there is no cloud cover to prevent radiational cooling at night. Mongolia enjoys over 280 days of sunshine a year.
The best summer weather is in the higher mountainous terrain and dense forests of Mongolia's northern and western provinces. The Gobi Desert in southern Mongolia is the country's "banana belt." Here summer temperatures can easily hit 40°C (104°F) at midday.
Mongolia does have a rainy season, of sorts, that lasts from July through August. Even so, the showers are usually brief and rainfall amounts are not that great.
